I Wish You A Retro Christmas

This will be a very special time of the year.

Decembers are usually unique; December 2020 will surely be even more so, unfortunately, not for the best of reasons. But is it an option to fall into despair? Absolutely not. In fact, this is a great opportunity to show what we are made of and, despite all the significant hindrances, make the most out of the occasion, for that spiritual strength is one of our most admirable and exceptional qualities as human beings. Since it is up to every single one of us to contribute to that positive energy in any way one can, I am pleased to announce that the Libero Magazine will be playing its own very small part on this global, uplifting act.

During December, we will be recommending either a retro game or a mod a day as our humble Christmas gift to our audience. Whether you decide to keep those gifts for yourself or instead you prefer to share them with friends or family, I hope this will bring a bit more joy to your life and to that of those around you. That is, after all, what Christmas is all about. Retro games are not just quality entertainment, but our art, culture and history; they are time machines, playable encyclopedias, interactive art galleries, and for many millions of people out there, nostalgic galaxies providing adventures in their own memories. Please accept this gift on the behalf of your (hopefully beloved) Libero Magazine, for I wish you all the best, but especially, I wish you a Retro Christmas.

#1: PES6 PC – Firebird Patch 2021

There isn’t a better way of kicking off this Retro Christmas than with one of the greatest retro gaming mods around: the Firebird Patch for the legendary PES6 (PC). Built by an exquisitely talented modding team, their work has been dominating the retro sports gaming scene for a while now, having quickly become an unmissable work of art for he who is looking for some entertaining, modern footballing action recreated in an older – but fantastic – game. What sets Firebird apart is its trademark professional-looking quality; from player faces to stadiums and rosters, everything is brilliantly tuned to make the experience look and feel as if one is not playing a mod, but an actual whole new game. Recently, the Firebird team released its brand-new 2021 version, which should be your best excuse to dive in on one of the greatest football games of all time. It is even possible to play this online, should you decide to prove your talents across many other retro players out there using the very popular Firebird Patch.

  1. Happy Christmas, I would like to know if you have heard about ‘International Superstar Soccer’ patches in your area (I believe you are in Europe) back in 90s?
We had a fabulous patch of this game in Brazil called ‘Ronaldinho Soccer’ and I was wondering if other versions might have spread in different parts of the world.

    1. Retro Christmas to you too, my friend.
I wasn’t aware of it, but I’m glad you posted that article. I’m reading it now and it is impressive that the football games’ modding scene was already very active back then. I can’t help you with your question but now that I am interested, I will certainly dig around for more information about that.
